Connection Failed
2009 September 23
Try as I might, I no longer find Second Life enjoyable. The people there are still great, but it is difficult watch Linden Lab’s actions and still support their product. Therefore I won’t recommend Second Life as a place for business anymore. I’ll leave this blog up until the domain name expires.
Thank you for those who have read this blog and reached out to me. I wish you the best in your own endeavors.
-Todd

Very sorry to hear this Todd. Are you going to another virtual world or retiring altogether? From a purely selfish perspective, I’d be interested to know what is happening to Puppeteer.
I’ll keep the shop around and keep supporting it while people are still using it. It’s just that I don’t think I can fuel the blog anymore. Sorry.
Well, all credit to you for keeping the shop and I hope it continues to prosper. Puppeteer is a very cool product and I would hate to see it go. The blog has been very informative but I can appreciate that motivation can die or dwindle for one reason or another. Your style of parting, short and to the point, is in keeping with the high quality throughout. Good luck to you.
I’m very sorry to hear this. I saw your name pop up usually when I had to leave shortly after. Damn timezones.
Sorry to hear it Todd. This blog’s been a great resource for me and I’m sad to see it go.
Bye bye Todd,
I wish you the very best of luck in whatever you do in the future.
I’ve also left SL – well really it’s left me!
But I’m still passionate about the future of VW’s.
Virtual Worlds are here to stay, LL started something that other’s will hopefully take to greater heights – with less of the lows!
Maybe in another World, at another time all of us discontents will stumble upon each other again :)
Todd:
I’m also glad to hear you will continue to support your shop and excellent products, especially Puppeteer which is one of the finest made items in SL. I will miss the blog, but can appreciate the time and effort it takes to keep something like it going.
Todd:
So sorry to see you leave but c’est la vie du SL.
Hope you hang on to the good memories of the positive impact you made on the lives of residents here (including mine).
All the best in your new endeavours.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. I do still love the concept of virtual worlds. Maybe in a few more years, things will be better.
Thank you for every thing, Todd. We will miss your blog. Hope we see you in SL some more.
How do I get an icon for my comments?
Thanks for the blog while it lasted! It was an interesting eye opener for me.
BTW, what Linden Lab actions are you referring to? Just curious.
I don’t think talking about it will help. Since the ones that can do something about it aren’t the ones asking. I don’t want my last post here to end with words that might foster more negativity.
Sorry to hear this, Todd. However, this is simply a new chapter for you. Someone with your drive, intelligence, and creativity is all but destined to excel in whatever you do pursue.
Wish you the absolute best in your next ventures! Keep in touch. :)
I’m sorry to hear this but of course you have to do what makes you happy. I’m still going to keep referring back to this blog every so often and I know there are others out there that bring your posts up from time to time. It’s a shame you didn’t use regular blog site to make your posts so you don’t have to worry about the domain name expiring. I know I’d love to be able to refer to it in the future. Best wishes to you.
Todd,
Thank you for this blog. I’ve been in SL just a little over a year, and learning as I go about running a business most of that time, and I can’t state enough how indispensable the articles in this blog have been. I’m kicking myself for not having found it earlier, before learning several lessons the hard (and expensive!) way. I’ve recommended it to numerous friends and acquaintances when they mention an interest in starting up a business in SL.
Also, a Shop Assistant that was purchased for me as a gift a good while back is still in my employ, now working as a bartender at my little pub. She’s taken on a life of her own and my customers just love her.
I can appreciate the need to move on. People change, SL changes, interests change. Just know that while you were here, you made a real difference. Thank you.

Best of luck Todd. You have a rare knack for sharing your experience in an unambiguous way and I have enjoyed your blog because of it. I respect your decision to walk away but know that you’ll be missed.
Well its very sad to see the blog go helped me out alot!
I wish you the best in your next adventure Todd ;-)
Good luck Todd and thank you for very useful and always informative take on virtual world business.
